WHO WE ARE

HOUSE OF MAYA IS A MATERNAL LEADERSHIP PLATFORM FOUNDED BY ALINA JIWANI and named for her daughter Maya.

We believe that what happens to a woman in motherhood is not a detour, but a developmental transformation as significant as adolescence. One that expands her capacity, deepens her leadership, and reveals a version of herself the world has not yet fully recognized.

“I WANT TO BUILD SOMETHING THAT MATTERS.”

After burnout and PPD, redefining what meaningful work looks like now.

THE LEADERSHIP GAP

Most leadership and workplace models were not designed with the transformation of motherhood in mind.

67%

of mothers have never heard the word matrescence, leaving them to navigate one of life's most profound transformations without language for what is happening to them.

455,000+

women left the workforce between January and August 2025, not because ambition disappeared, but because existing systems were not built to support the realities of modern motherhood.

$14.2 billion

is the annual economic cost of untreated maternal mental health conditions in the U.S., reflecting the scale of what remains unsupported across modern systems.

I REALIZED I WANTED TO BUILD SOMETHING THAT WAS MINE.”

Rethinking ownership, ambition, and what comes next.

Maternal
Leadership

THE HOUSE OF MAYA APPROACH

We bring together matrescence education, curated gatherings, and strategic partnerships to advance maternal leadership at both the individual and systems level.

Matrescence
Education

We create accessible language, education, and frameworks that bring matrescence into mainstream cultural understanding, so no mother navigates this transformation without words for what she is experiencing.

Maternal Leadership

We reframe motherhood as an evolution in leadership, helping women integrate ambition, identity, and maternal experience into how they lead, build, and contribute. A form of leadership shaped by long-term thinking, collective good, and generational impact.

Systems
& Partnerships

We build partnerships, support maternal innovation, and invest in the leaders and ideas advancing a world where maternal leadership is fully recognized, resourced, and supported at every level.

“IF I AM GOING TO SPEND TIME AWAY FROM MY SON, I WANT IT TO BE FOR SOMETHING THAT MAKES HIM PROUD OF ME."

Refusing to choose between ambition and presence.
